It is customary to refer to an ActiveX control as a COM or OLE object, whose complexity reaches the level of a module designed to control or execute scripts on Internet pages.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows operating system by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item to perform the installation of the ActiveX control.
Step 2
Launch the Internet Explorer application and open the "Tools" menu in the upper toolbar of the program window.
Step 3
Specify "Internet Options" and go to the "Security" tab of the dialog box that opens.
Step 4
Click the Custom button in the Security Levels section and specify the desired options for the Information Bar item to allow you to:
- display a pop-up window;
- install ActiveX controls;
- download the selected file;
- run the active content of the downloaded file;
- Run ActiveX controls when Safe Mode is disabled.
Step 5
Return to the main Start menu and enter gpedit.msc in the text box of the search bar to edit the settings for the ActiveX installation tool.
Step 6
Confirm the execution of the command to launch the "Group Policy Editor" utility by pressing the Enter function key and click the "Yes" button in the system query window that opens.
Step 7
Expand the "Computer Configuration" node by double-clicking and go to the "Administrative Templates" item.
Step 8
Select the Windows Components section and select Local Computer Policy.
Step 9
Open the link "ActiveX Installer Service" and open the context menu of the item "Websites Allowed for Installing Activex Controls" by right-clicking.
Step 10
Specify the "Modify" command and apply the checkbox to the "Enabled" field in the dialog box that opens.
Step 11
Use the Show option in the Parameters group and enter the desired URL in the Parameter Name field of the next dialog box.
Step 12
Apply the check boxes to the required fields of the installer service parameter values:
- installation of ActiveX controls with trusted signatures;
- installation of signed ActiveX controls;
- installation of unsigned ActiveX controls;
- exceptions for HTTS connection errors
and confirm the application of the selected changes by pressing the OK button.
