Do you want to make your own local network or just connect two computers to play over the network, but have a problem with how to do it? Don't worry, everything is very easy and simple. You will need a little patience and neatness, as well as supplies.
Necessary
- - UTP cable;
- - RJ-45 connectors;
- - crimping Tools;
- - knife.
Instructions
Step 1
There are two ways to crimp UTP cables that connect computers to each other and create entire networks.
1. "Direct". It is designed to connect a PC to an extensive computer network through hubs, switches, various modems.
2. "Crossover" (cross-wire or null-hub). This type of connection is used for a point-to-point connection.
Step 2
The difference between these methods is solely in the alternation of the conductors of the split UTP cable. In the first case, the sequence of veins from left to right will look like this: white-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, brown. In the second case, one end of the cable will have the following sequence of conductors: white-green, green, white-orange, blue, white-blue, orange, white-brown, brown. The other end is the alternation of the veins shown in the first embodiment.
Step 3
Use a sharpened knife to cut the power cord. A stationery cutter knife is best for you. Carefully make a shallow longitudinal cut along the edge of the cable, approximately 2.5 cm long, so as not to damage the conductors. Then remove the outer sheath of the cable.
Step 4
You will see eight strands twisted in pairs. Carefully separate them in different directions, according to the color scheme of your connection method, and then separate one core from the other. Next, you should align all the cores one to one. As a rule, it becomes visible that one or more wires are slightly longer or shorter than the others. Cut 1-2 mm from them so that the length of all the strands is the same.
Step 5
Pick up the RJ-45 connector. Inside it, you can see the wire guides for your cable. Take the stripped cable strands in your hands and carefully insert them into the connector. Make sure that each of the strands fits into the corresponding groove in the connector guide.
Step 6
Pick up the crimping tool ("crimp"). Before inserting the connector into it, make sure that all the cores of the UTP cable have reached the inner wall of the RJ-45 connector. Now insert the connector into a suitable crimp connector and squeeze it firmly there. Finally, check the quality of the crimp by twitching the cable.
