Commands are used to configure certain parameters of an application or operating system. Depending on the setting you want to make, the procedure for entering commands may vary. To enter the desired code, you will often need to open the console and enter the required parameters into it.
Instructions
Step 1
To enter and process commands in Windows, the "Command Line" application is used, which is an interpreter of program code and through which you can make almost any setting of the operating system.
Step 2
To enter a command in Windows, go to the Start menu and type Command Prompt in the program search bar. In the list of results obtained, select the appropriate result. You can also find the program under Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt.
Step 3
To enter the code, simply start typing the commands you want on the keyboard. If you want to paste the text copied to the clipboard, right-click in the terminal window and select the "Paste" operation. After entering, press Enter to apply the changes. You will receive a notification about the result of the procedure in the application window.
Step 4
On Linux operating systems, many settings can also be made using the command line alone. In the list of applications, it is called "Terminal" and can be found both in the application menu of the system, and opened by pressing the keyboard combination Ctrl and T.
Step 5
In the window that appears, enter the required command and press Enter. You can paste the copied code using the Shift and Insert keyboard shortcuts. You can also right-click in the program area and select "Paste" in the context menu that appears.
Step 6
To invoke the command line in games, the ~ ("E") key of the keyboard, which is located under the Esc button, is usually used. Press it during the game and you will see a field for entering commands. Enter the required code or query and press Enter. You will see the result of the query execution on the screen.
