With good reason we can say that the processor is the main part of any computer, since its main task is to execute incoming commands and perform calculations. The choice of processor should be taken seriously.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to choose the right processor, you need to know its characteristics. First of all, pay attention to one of its most important parameters - clock frequency, i.e. the number of operations that can be performed in 1 second. The higher it is, the faster the data processing goes.

Step 2

Pay attention to the number of cores in the processor. At this stage in the development of computer technology, the increase in clock frequency has reached its limits. Therefore, multi-core processors are becoming more and more popular, i.e. those in which several programs can be launched simultaneously and, what is important, without loss of performance. Nowadays, most games are adapted to use 1 or 2 cores, i.e., having a processor with a large number of them, you will not see a significant increase in performance. But the time is not far off when programs using multi-core devices will appear in droves. Therefore, if material capabilities allow, then with an equal frequency, choose a processor with a large number of cores.

Step 3

Bus frequency - the rate at which information is transmitted to and from the processor, i.e. the higher it is, the better.

Step 4

Pay attention to an important parameter - the size of the processor cache. It is a high-frequency unit located on the core, which has a higher read and write speed than RAM, which significantly improves performance. Each processor has a level 1 and 2 cache. There may not be a third-level cache. The cache size of the first level is from 8 to 128 Kb. It has the fastest processing speed. The L2 cache is slower. Its volume is from 128 to 12288Kb. Draw the conclusion: with equal characteristics, it is preferable to have a processor with a larger cache-memory of the first and second levels.

Step 5

All of the above are the most important characteristics that directly affect the performance of the processor. Another detail that you definitely need to pay attention to is the socket - connector for installation. Don't forget about it. The same type of connector must be installed on the motherboard of your computer.
