Step 1
To enable all 4 cores of your processor in Windows XP, use the update file kb896256. You can find it on the official Microsoft website by going to the update files section specifically for Windows XP, after downloading, install it in your operating system and restart your computer. After turning on, check the appearance of the fourth core in the task manager.
Step 2
If you have problems turning on all the cores of a quad-core computer, update the device drivers. To do this, connect to the Internet and search for updated software versions for your motherboard model. You can view the full name of the motherboard in the device manager in the properties of the computer on the "Hardware" tab. It is best not to automatically update the driver here.
Step 3
Uninstall the old motherboard driver in Add / Remove Programs. After that, restart your computer and install the software you downloaded, following the instructions in the installer menu items. Wait for the computer to automatically restart, then check the operation of the fourth core in the task manager.
Step 4

This program is also relevant for using it when launching applications designed for old versions of operating systems (often the processor cores are turned off for this reason).
