For testing hard drives, many free and paid programs have been developed. HDD Scan is a free program for Windows, with which you can view S. M. A. R. T indicators, check the hard drive for bad sectors, and also see the speed characteristics of the hard drive speed in a graphical representation.
Necessary

Instructions
Step 1
Download HDD Scan software. It doesn't need to be installed. The installer can be found on the official website of the developer hddscan.com. Save the downloaded program to the Programs folder for future use and run the application by double-clicking on the startup file.
Step 2
In the main window of the program, in the Sourse Disk section, check if the correct hard drive is selected. You can see the data of S. M. A. R. T by clicking on the button of the same name just below. You can easily find the decryption of these attributes on the Internet.
Step 3
In the Process area, click the Start button to start checking the disk. Start LBA is the first sector of the check, and End LBA is the last sector. During the verification process, the Map tab area will be filled with colored squares representing sectors. As soon as all the space is filled with such squares, the system will automatically notify you that the computer has fully checked the speed of the hard disk.
Step 4
Go to the Map tab to see a graph of the hard drive speed. It may differ depending on the sector area that is currently being tested. The program also offers to adjust the noise of the hard disk, display sector scan data in the form of a report, and some other features. HDD Scan is quite easy to use and is well worth having in your computer maintenance toolbox.
Step 5
In general, we can say that it is not difficult to check the speed of a hard disk on a personal computer, since it is enough to download the appropriate software and perform a few simple operations. However, be careful, as improper use of such programs can break the entire system.
