The problem with enlarging small photographs is the poor quality of the resulting image. However, with certain specified parameters and properties of the image, magnification will not result in a strong deterioration of the image.
Necessary
Adobe Photoshop or any other graphic editor
Instructions
Step 1
Download to your computer any graphics editor that has an extended toolbar, for example, Adobe Photoshop or any other program similar to it. At the end of the installation process, run it and open your image, which you want to enlarge, using the "File" menu.
Step 2
Zoom in on the image using the zoom menu and see how much the image quality has deteriorated to determine the largest possible magnification of the image with minimal loss.
Step 3
Using the toolbar on the left, perform a preliminary elimination of image imperfections, if any, since after enlargement all this will be much more noticeable. Save changes and using the "Edit" menu, resize the image, increase the number of pixels per inch in the same window.
Step 4
Edit the settings for brightness, contrast and saturation, perhaps, with certain parameters, the loss of image quality will not be conspicuous. Set the bicubic aspect ratio and adjust the Smoothness / Sharpness setting depending on the original image.
Step 5
Use also the "Curves" menu item in "Edit". Do not be afraid to change this or that parameter, as the image can be restored to the state in which you saved it. Also try to master the installation of special filters for applying various photo effects, when using some of them, poor image quality will not be so noticeable.
Step 6
Download them online, for example, at https://www.deviantart.com/. There are also special programs for image enlargement (Resize Magic, Imagener, Photo Zoom Professional, Qimage, etc.) available for download from the Internet. However, if you often have to do this operation with different images, it is best to do all the operations manually without using filters and special programs, since each image is an individual situation.
