You can find out the operating time of the computer using the standard means of the operating system. However, when using third-party programs, you can get much more detailed statistics about work and downtime, including records of the duration of working and non-working periods, the time of the very first boot of the system, the exact time of the previous shutdown, etc.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the systeminfo.exe utility. It works on the command line, so you need to start the command line emulator first. Open the main menu on the "Start" button and select the "Run" line.
Step 2
Type cmd in the program launch dialog and press Enter. This will open the CLI terminal.
Step 3
Type systeminfo at the command line and press Enter. You can copy the command from here and paste it into the terminal using the corresponding command in the context menu that opens by right-clicking in the terminal. As a result, the utility will collect data about your system for a couple of seconds, and then will give you a long list of very different information.
Step 4
If you are using Windows XP, then find the line "System uptime" - it is located closer to the top of the list and contains the system uptime you need to the nearest second.
Step 5
In the case of using Windows Vista or Windows 7, this line is called differently ("System boot time") and shows exactly the boot time, and you will have to calculate the operating time yourself.
Step 6
For convenience, you can transfer the entire table produced by the utility to any text editor. To do this, right-click the table, select the "Select All" line from the menu, and then press the Enter key - this way the contents of the terminal display are copied to the computer's memory. Then you can paste it into an open document in any editor.
Step 7
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, there is another way to find out the operating time of your computer - using the Task Manager. Press CTRL + alt="Image" + Delete to launch it and go to the "Performance" tab. Opening hours are placed here in the "System" section.
Step 8
In addition to the own resources of the installed operating system, you can use third-party programs. For example, in the menu of the Everest program, in the "Operating system" section, there is a tab "Working hours". There you can find the most detailed statistics not only for the current session, but also for the entire period from the moment of installation.
