Instructions

Step 1

Note for yourself that the id of your personal computer is not its name on the work network. In fact, this is the physical address of the network card, using which you connect to the Internet. To find out the id of your computer, do the following.

Step 2

Go to the Start menu, then go to the Control Panel section. A window with icons will open in front of you. Among them, find the one that depicts a monitor with a check mark on the screen. This icon should be called "System". Double click on this icon with the left mouse button. You will see a window containing information about the properties of the system installed on your personal computer. There is a quicker way to open this window. Press the Win + Pause / Break key combination.

Step 3

Click the Hardware tab. Then click the Device Manager button. You will see a window containing a complete list of devices (both software and physical) installed in your personal computer. To determine the id of the computer, fully expand the "Network adapters" list. Click the left mouse button on the icon with the "+" sign, which is located to the left of the subsection name.

Step 4

Find the network card in the list and right-click on it. In the menu that appears, select the "Properties" item. A window will appear in front of you. In it, left-click on the "Advanced" tab. Then select "Network Address". It should be slightly lower. If the address is not in the specified location, do the following to find out the computer id.

Step 5

Press the key combination Win + R. A dialog box will appear in front of you. Enter the cmd command in it, then press the Enter key. At the command prompt, type ipconfig / all, then press Enter again. A window with a list will appear in front of you. Find your network card in it. Its id will be contained in the "Physical address" line.
