In the Windows operating system, each folder and each file has a property page that displays different information about the folder or about a specific file. If the user needs to know the time of file creation, he can use this page.
Instructions
Step 1
To access the file properties page, go to the directory where the file you need is saved, right-click on its icon and select the last item "Properties" from the context menu.
Step 2
In the dialog box that opens, go to the "General" tab. This tab contains information about what type of file you have selected, where it is located and how large it is. The time when the file was created (day, month, year, hours, minutes, seconds) is shown below, as well as information about when it was last modified and opened.
Step 3
Also, the date and time of the file creation can be found using the Total Commander program and similar ones. Start TC and find the file you want. The required information will be indicated to the right of the line with the file name. If you need to quickly see only the time the file was last modified, you can use the panel of typical folder tasks.
Step 4
Go to the directory where the file is saved and select it by moving the mouse cursor over its icon. At the very bottom of the typical task pane of the folder, brief information about the file will be displayed. This information is identical to what appears when you open the property sheet. If you hold the cursor a little longer on the file icon, a pop-up window will also display brief information about the file.
Step 5
To customize the display of the common taskbar in folders, open the Control Panel from the Start menu and select the Folder Options icon in the Appearance and Themes category. Alternatively, open any folder and select Folder Options from the Tools menu.
Step 6
In the window that opens, make the "General" tab active and in the "Tasks" group mark the item "Display a list of typical tasks in folders" with a marker. Click the "Apply" button for the settings to take effect, and close the window with the OK button or the [x] icon in the upper right corner of the window.
