Creation of installation files is a necessary procedure for any application developer. It is the self-extracting archives and automatic installers that help users get access to the program and start working with it as soon as possible.
Necessary
- - Computer with Internet access;
- - IExpress application.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the IExpress application to create self-extracting archives such as Setup.exe files. These archives contain one or more other files that the user must extract from them. Creating Setup.exe installers makes it easy to distribute your applications or games with the ability to install them from a single package, rather than forcing users to download a large number of resources. Not all Setup.exe archives contain installation commands, especially in small programs. With IExpress, you can customize the entire installation process yourself.
Step 2
Start the IExpress application. Select "Create a new self-extracting file" and click "Next". In the window that opens, select "Unpack files and start installation" to create a package that will install the program after unpacking it, or select "Extract files" to create a package that simply compresses the contents of the program. Click "Next".
Step 3
In the text box of the new window, enter a name for the package. The screen will display the names of each dialog box that the user will see when starting the installation of the file. Click Next.
Step 4
Select "Do not show license" to skip the demonstration of the license agreement during installation, or "Show license" for the opposite action, then click "Browse" to point to a text file that will be displayed in the window during installation.
Step 5
Then press the Add button and specify the path to the files that you want to add to the installation package. Select the "Show message" menu item and specify the type of user alerts, for example, "Installation complete!" Click "Create Package" and in the screen that appears, complete the creation of the setup file Setup.exe. Click Finish to complete the IExpress Wizard.
