Step 1
Disconnect the infected computer from the global as well as local networks.
Step 2
Save all important information on it on removable media.
Step 3
Disable system recovery on hard drives. To do this, right-click on the “My Computer” icon, select the “Properties” tab, and in the drop-down “System Restore” tab, check the box next to “Disable System Restore on all disks”.
Step 4
Confirm the changes by clicking "Apply".
Step 5
Reboot your computer. While it starts, hold down the F8 key, which will start the PC in safe mode. Perform scanning and disinfection only in this mode.
Step 6
Run anti-virus utilities, disabling all anti-virus programs installed on the computer, as well as the firewall. This will make the treatment of the PC from the virus more effective. Otherwise, there may be a conflict between the installed programs.
Step 7
Set your computer scan options by choosing deep scanning, disinfecting infected files, and quarantining viruses.
Step 8
Remove the quarantined viruses.
