The computer works slowly, programs open for a long time, games hang - many people think, probably, there is a virus in the computer. A virus may not necessarily be the cause of a slow computer. Very often, to speed up your PC, you just need to put elementary order with the files. Remove unnecessary components left after the uninstalled programs. In addition, when everything is neatly laid out on the computer, it is easier to work on it, more convenient and faster, you can find the files you need.
Necessary
Windows computer
Instructions
Step 1
The first step is to clean up your local drive. By default, the drive is "C". Remove all video games, music and movies from it completely. Remember, the system disk serves exclusively for "Windows" and for installing programs there. Any other files should not be present there.
Step 2
Go to the "My Documents" folder and put all the files there by type. Collect all text documents in one folder, graphics in another. Thus, organize all the files in this folder.
Step 3
Then you need to start cleaning your desktop. Even after uninstalling a game or program, shortcuts remain on the desktop. These labels are incompetent, since they refer to a non-existent place. Remove any inactive shortcuts from the desktop.
Step 4
Now organize the files on your scratch disk. The default is "D". Create a main folder for each category of files. For movies, clips, other video files, you need to create a folder, for example, called "video". Inside this main folder, create folders for categories, "videos", "movies", etc. Place all files in the appropriate folders. In this way, you will complete all folders with the corresponding files of the same types. It doesn't matter how many folders you create inside the main folder, the main thing is that the corresponding files of the same type are hunted in them. So in the Music folder, you can create many more folders where you can store music by category or by group.
Step 5
Next, defragment your disks. Click Start, select All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, and then Disk Defragmenter. Select all hard drives and click Start. After the defragmentation process, the computer should run much faster, because now the files are arranged by type and the system will process information faster.
