The need to format a flash drive to NTFS is caused by the inability to use the FAT32 file system to write files larger than 4 GB. In most cases, these sizes are due to DVD images. The restrictions imposed by the Windows operating system in the field of formatting removable media in NTFS are quite workable.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu and go to the "Properties" section of the "My Computer" menu.
Step 2
Open the Hardware tab in the System Properties dialog box and select Device Manager.
Step 3
Specify "Disk drives" in the new "Device Manager" window and call the drop-down menu by double-clicking on the field of your flash drive.
Step 4
Select the Policy tab and select the Optimize for Execution check box.
Step 5
Click OK to confirm the command and close the Device Manager and System Properties dialog boxes.
Step 6
Return to the "My Computer" menu and open the service menu by right-clicking on the flash drive icon.
Step 7
Select "Format" in the opened context menu and select the appeared NTFS format in the drop-down menu of the "Format Removable Disk" dialog box.
Step 8
Go back to the My Computer menu and go to Properties. Specify "System Properties" and select "Hardware". Open Device Manager and select Disk Devices. Go to "Removable Disk" and select "Properties". Select the Policy section and uncheck the Optimize for Fast Removal box.
Confirm the operation by clicking OK.
Another way to get the desired result is to use the built-in file system conversion utility convert.exe.

Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu and go to "Run".
Step 10
Enter cmd in the Open field and click OK to execute the command.
Step 11
Enter the following value for convert flash drive name: / fs: ntfs / nosecurity / x and confirm your choice with OK.
