A person who has a computer in the house gradually accumulates a huge amount of information that needs to be stored somewhere. One of the cheapest and most affordable ways is to store your data on DVDs. These discs are not very durable. But for some time (suddenly they will soon come up with a more perfect storage!) You can store information on them. How long depends on the quality of the disc and how well it is stored.

Instructions

Step 1

When pulling a disc out of its case, be careful not to touch the recording side with your fingers. Dust, dirt, grease, scratches do not contribute to the good preservation of the blank. Only handle the disc by the bezel.

Step 2

After the disc is burned, be sure to remove it from the drive. Do not forget it when the system unit is off.

Step 3

Write on the CD only with a specially designed marker. You cannot draw with other writing objects. It’s even better if you do not mark the discs, but the cases in which they are located.

Step 4

Try not to attach any stickers to the disc. If you inadvertently imbalance the balance, it can break in the fast drive. In addition, the adhesive on the sticker can chemically attack the disc material, making the data on the disc unreadable.

Step 5

If it becomes necessary to wipe the disc or clean it from dirt, this can only be done with cotton wool, a cosmetic cotton napkin or a very soft cloth. Wipe the disc from the center to the outside without pressing. Organic solvents (acetone and benzene) dissolve the polycarbonate from which the discs are made. Avoid getting them on the surface. For cleaning, you can use only methanol or isopropanol with care.

Step 6

The easiest and cheapest storage method is paper envelopes. But it is inconvenient to remove the disc from them. Better - separate cases. Sometimes storage on spindles is chosen to save space. But, firstly, when shifting discs, you can easily scratch them, and secondly, it is generally recommended to store discs only in an upright position.

Step 7

The discs must not be exposed to direct or scattered UV rays and any contaminants. Therefore, they should always be stored in a case in a dark place.

Step 8

The optimum storage temperature for CDs is at room temperature. They can withstand temperatures from -5 to +55 degrees Celsius without damage. But it is better if your disks do not experience such "extreme". The humidity at which they can be stored is no more than 90%.

Step 9

It is important to store your valuable data on more than one disk. Make one or more copies if possible. It's even better if you have a free hard drive where you can put a lot of your information.
