Instructions

Step 1

Start a new game. Immediately after starting OpenTTD, a window with buttons for selecting options and starting the game will appear in the center.

Choose your preferred options. Click on the Game Options button to configure basic game and system parameters. Press the Difficulty (Custom) button and change the basic settings of the gameplay, such as the number of competitors, the period of their appearance, the level of economic stability, the possibility of natural disasters, etc. Configure subtle aspects of game mechanics (using experimental AI mode, new dynamic pathfinding algorithms, etc.) by clicking the Configure Patches button.

Enter the game. Select the type of terrain by clicking on the corresponding icon. Click on the New Game button and click on the Generate random new game line to start the game on a randomly generated map. Click on the Play Scenario button and select your preferred scenario to play on one and specially designed maps.

Step 2

Activate pause mode. This is necessary in order to evaluate the loaded map and make preparations without wasting playing time, after which the computer will turn on in the game, adding one or more competitors. Click the leftmost button on the top toolbar.

Step 3

Increase the amount of borrowed funds to the maximum possible. Click on the button with a stack of coins on the toolbar. In the window that appears, click on the Borrow $ 20,000 button until a message appears stating that it is impossible to increase the loan.

Step 4

Analyze the game world for the presence of favorably located facilities that produce and consume resources that could provide you with a quick start. Open the game card window. Click on the Industries button. Browse the map. Look for nearby coal mines and power plants, forests and woodworking plants, oil wells and refineries. Select several pairs of enterprises between which the goods will be transported.

Step 5

Build stations around the selected objects. Determine which type of transport between which enterprises the goods will be transported. Open the window for creating communications for the transport of the required type by clicking on the corresponding button on the toolbar. Click in this window on the button with the station image. Place the building on the map.

Step 6

Build roads or train tracks between car and train stations. Use the corresponding buttons of an already open window. Next to the stations, connecting them with the paved tracks, build a depot.

Step 7

Create vehicles. Click on the depot. In the window that opens, click on the New Vehicles button. Select a specific model from the list that appears. Click the Build Vehicle button. When creating trains, add wagons in the same way.

Specify the destinations for the created transport. Click on the train, car, ship or plane in the depot. A window for managing this object will appear. Click the arrow button. In the displayed window, click the Go To button and select the stations that the object will follow. Unpause the game for a short while when creating and addressing vehicles.

Step 8

Play OpenTTD. Disable pause mode. All vehicles created will be set in motion. They will start transporting goods and making a profit. Explore the game world, create new transport routes and optimize old ones. Compete with the computer included in the game.
