There are many different methods to prevent access to sensitive information. Windows operating systems have built-in encryption programs. Their use allows you to reliably protect certain resources.

Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the Windows computer. Log in using your standard account.
Step 2
Please note that once directories are locked, you can only open them with this account. If there are no other accounts on the computer, create them yourself to provide other users with access to this system.
Step 3
Open the My Computer menu. Navigate to the folder where important files are located. Click on its icon with the right mouse button and open the properties of the directory.
Step 4
Go to the General tab and open the Advanced submenu. Check the box next to "Encrypt content to protect data." Click the Ok button and wait for the new window to appear.
Step 5
Specify the Use for Attached Files and Subdirectories option. Wait for the system to apply the changes. If there are other accounts with administrator rights on this computer, disable them. With their help, users can access your files.
Step 6
To increase the level of information security, install a third-party application, such as the DirLock program. Restart your computer after completing this procedure.
Step 7
Navigate to the desired folder using the functions of Windows Explorer. Right-click on the catalog icon. When the new menu appears, go to Lock / UnLock. Set a password for this folder.
Step 8
To hide the folder from prying eyes, check the Hide box. Apply the changes by clicking the Ok button.
Step 9
To be able to view and modify files located inside the protected folder, select the UnLock item. Do not forget to repeat the procedure for locking the directory after you finish working with it.
