If we compare the two file systems FAT32 and NTFS for the reliability of files stored on hard drives, we can safely give preference to the latter opponent. Changing the file system from FAT32 to NTFS will be justified in any case, especially since the format change can be made without losing important data.
Necessary
Hard disk with FAT32 file system, command line of Windows operating system
Instructions
Step 1
As soon as information about the NTFS file system began to spread to the masses, many immediately saw a new security system for files stored on hard drives. In addition, the new file system solved the issue of recording and saving files over 4 Gb; it was with such files that FAT32 had a problem. When converting one system to another, the risk of data loss disappears.
Step 2
If the conversion is carried out according to the "FAT32 - NTFS" scheme, the data can be saved on the hard disk, converting in the opposite order will not give the same results. But the new file system is not as good as many praise it: work in earlier operating systems becomes impossible, the system simply cannot detect such a hard drive. There is also a small chance of losing some of the data when formatting to NTFS.
Step 3
What needs to be done before formatting to NTFS? Close all programs that may be using any of the hard disk partitions. Then click the "Start" menu, select "Run". In the window that opens, enter the cmd command and click the "OK" button. Windows Command Prompt will start. Also, this application can be launched as follows: click the "Start" menu, select the "Programs" item, from the list that opens, select the "Standard" folder, then click on the "Command line" item.
Step 4
In the open command prompt window, enter the following line without quotes: "convert C: / fs: ntfs". The letter "C" can be replaced by any letter corresponding to the hard disk partition. Press the Enter key. The list of sections and the letters corresponding to them can be viewed by clicking the "Start" menu and selecting "My Computer" or by double-clicking on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
Step 5
Remember that conversion of the hard disk format may fail or with minor errors if the hard disk is completely clogged. If there are system files on the disk to be formatted, the conversion process will occur after restarting the computer.
