System image in Windows 10, also known as backup. Create it only using Windows tools, that is, without downloading third-party files and programs!
This method is free, as it is built into the operating system. This method does not include the ability to configure a backup schedule. This means that you have to create an image of the system manually, after installing the operating system and installing the necessary programs. There is also no way to select a folder to store the backup. But even taking into account the above disadvantages, this tool is sufficient to create a backup of the system partition.
Preparation
First, you need to run the tool with which the copying will take place. This can be done through the control panel, right-click on the start menu icon. Select "Control Panel" and find "Recovery". You can also find this function through the search located to the right of "Start".
You will be presented with a window with three sections, so far, they are not of interest to you. Your task is to find the active button "File history" in the lower left corner and go through it. After that, again, in the lower left corner, select "System Image Backup". Next to the right, closer to the top, open "Create a system image".
System imaging
A small download will appear in the window that opens. After waiting for it, you need to specify where the backup archive is stored. The system will automatically determine the optimal disk by the amount of available and built-in memory and select it. But you can specify the storage location manually by choosing a hard drive of your choice. If possible, you can select both DVD and a network folder. The most convenient way would be a hard drive.
Click "Next", in the next window you can not change anything, since by default the disks that are required to start Windows are added. These are "System Disk" and "Windows Recovery Environment". If you want to add another disk to the archive, check the box next to it and click "Next".
Now check the backup parameters, here is the location where the backup will be stored, its size and which disks will be added. If everything is in order, click Archive.
Wait out the lengthy information processing. At the end of the download, a window will pop up prompting you to create a system recovery disc. This is not the most important function, it is not necessary to create it. Click "No" and close.
Find the "WindowsImageBackup" folder on the drive you selected as your primary drive. There will be no access to it without administrator rights. It is in it that your image of the system is located!
Notes: Pay attention to some of the links that have a blue and yellow icon next to them. It means that administrator rights are required to run. That is, these actions must be performed either in the administrator account, or specify the administrator password if you are using a regular account.
So, creating a system image in Windows 10 is very simple. If you do not want to use separate programs, use the proposed method, spending a minimum of time and effort!
