Sometimes it becomes necessary to provide the ability to control a computer using two mice at the same time. For example, the teacher can thus promptly intervene in the student's actions. No additional software is required for this.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure that the operating system installed on the computer is not DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Linux with a kernel version less than 2.4 inclusive.

Step 2

Get a second mouse. It must have a USB interface.

Step 3

Regardless of which port the first pointing device is connected to (COM, PS / 2 or USB), be sure to connect the second to an available USB port.

Step 4

Make sure that you can now control the computer with two pointing devices at the same time. True, the arrow on the screen will be common.

Step 5

Get used to the logic that two mice work with. If you move two of them at once, the speed and direction of movement of the arrow will not be determined at all by the difference in the vectors of movement of each of them. The rule is much simpler: whoever started moving the manipulator later controls the arrow. To take over control, you need to momentarily stop the mouse, and then continue moving it. The algorithm of the computer's reaction to the rotation of the mouse wheel is similar.

Step 6

Remember that in earlier versions of Linux operating systems with a 2.4 kernel, even one USB pointing device in some cases only works if a second PS / 2 mouse is connected.

Step 7

If your car does not have enough USB ports, use a USB hub to connect an additional pointing device. Do not overload it under any circumstances.

Step 8

If desired, plug in more than two mice - as many as there are free USB ports - plus one in the PS / 2 connector. Such a configuration has no practical application, so it can be built only for the sake of a comic experiment.

Step 9

Do not try to plug a second mouse into the PS / 2 keyboard connector - it will not work.

Step 10

Connect manipulators with COM and USB interfaces both when the computer is off and on, with the PS / 2 interface - only when it is off.

Step 11

For educational or humorous purposes, it is sometimes convenient to use a wireless one as a second manipulator.
