To protect important information, you must use special programs. They allow you to prevent access to files located both on the hard drive and on DVD media.

Instructions
Step 1
It is difficult enough to prevent access to the hard drive itself. Usually, such protection is bypassed by creating a virtual disk image and then working with it. It is wiser to use programs that prevent unwanted access to specific files or folders. Download and install the Lock Folder program. It was originally designed to run on Windows XP, but it runs successfully on Windows Seven as well.
Step 2
Copy all the files to be burned to the disc to a separate folder. Start the Lock Folder program and specify the path to this directory. Set a password for this folder. After that, write the files to disk in the way you are used to.
Step 3
Remember that you will have to use the Lock Folder program to open an encrypted folder. Write its archive to this disk so that you can work with the files you need anywhere.
Step 4
If you do not want to use specialized programs, download the WinZip archiver or any equivalent. Restart your computer and open any file manager. Right-click on the file folder and select "Add to archive".
Step 5
Enter the name of the archive. Find the Security menu and fill in both fields with the same password. Set the "No compression" option to speed up the archive creation process. Use a strong password if you really want to protect your data.
Step 6
Burn the created archive to DVD media. Now, to open files on this disk, you will need an archiver or file manager Total Commander.
Step 7
The most important documents can be hidden before burning to disk. To do this, use the Hide Folder program. Naturally, these files also need to be archived. This will maximize the protection of sensitive information.
