Choosing a keyboard for a computer today is very interesting, since the variety of models is amazing.

It is worth considering the following parameters:
1. Connection interface
Most keyboards are available for connection to PS / 2 or USB ports. But on a specific motherboard of a computer or laptop, one of these ports may not be available (older motherboards usually do not have USB, modern ones may not have PS / 2).
2. Size and number of keys
All keyboards can be roughly divided into two types - compact and full-size. The first usually lacks a number pad, it looks more like a compact laptop keyboard. It is convenient to take such keyboards with you to work on a tablet or connect to a computer if there is not enough space on the table for a regular keyboard. If you do a lot of calculations, then most likely you are using a number pad, which means it is better to choose a full-size keyboard.

It is also worth considering, choosing between a regular rectangular and an ergonomic keyboard (they differ in a curved shape, division of the keyboard for right and left hands). But, as it seems to me, the choice between ordinary and ergonomic should be made, guided only by their own taste and convenience. This also applies to the principle of operation of the keys (mechanical, membrane) - different types of keys have different immersion depths. And although the mechanical type has more reliability, it must be remembered that such keyboards have louder key clicks and a greater immersion depth (the membrane type has a shallow immersion depth and a quieter sound).
As for the purpose, gaming keyboards can be distinguished. Such keyboards are more functional, in particular, they have additional programmable keys, an additional screen for displaying information on the game, usually they differ in design and increased strength, as well as the speed of recognition of keystrokes and their combinations.
4. Fancy keyboards
Look for unusual keyboards such as flexible and waterproof. Lovers of drinking and spilling tea at the computer, they are very useful. Touch keyboards and keyboards with a touchpad (like a laptop) may also be useful. The backlit keyboard will be useful for computer night owls. Also, for several years now, the inventors promise us to release on a wide sale a virtual keyboard, which is a laser projection on a table.
