A webcam provides tremendous advantages when working on the Internet, communicating with friends and colleagues, and in many other fields of activity. The benefits of a webcam are undeniable - the only question is which model you need to choose for your computer. It is not difficult to get lost among the huge assortment of different offers, and therefore you need to understand what to look for when choosing a webcam.
Instructions
Step 1
First, determine what you need a webcam for - to broadcast through the network of events taking place in the apartment in your absence; for regular multimedia communication via Skype and similar programs; for shooting or photographing, and so on. Depending on this, you will have to choose specific camera parameters.
Step 2
Pay attention to how the camera looks and how comfortable it is for your computer. If you have a PC with an LCD screen, a webcam with a special monitor clip and flexible arm is handy. If the monitor is an ordinary CRT, the camera can be without a clothespin - you can just put it on the monitor.
Step 3
Pay attention to the length of the cable. When choosing a camera for a laptop, you can ignore its length. If the camera is chosen for a regular computer, the cable must be long enough.
Step 4
A much more important parameter than appearance is the resolution of the camera. Resolution creates the image quality that the camera transmits to the screen. Do not choose a camera with too weak technical parameters - the image quality will suffer in this case. Be sure to find out what is the real, not the maximum and increased resolution of the camera that you have chosen to buy.
Step 5
See if the camera has a manual focus mode and also look at the number of frames per second that the camera supports. If this number is too low, the image quality will also be low - it will "slow down" and freeze. For normal video communication via the Internet, you will need 30 frames per second.
Step 6
Also pay attention to whether it is possible to change the image settings in the camera - color correction, brightness correction, white balance.
Step 7
Determine if you need a built-in microphone for your camera or if you will be using your own purchased separately. When buying a camera with a built-in microphone, make sure it has a noise canceling system.
Step 8
And of course, the most important element to buy is the price of the camera.
First, select the models that suit you in all technical characteristics, and then compare the prices for them. A relatively inexpensive camera can be as good as a more expensive model. A camera for a desktop computer can be purchased for around 600 rubles.
