The Windows character table contains a list of all displayable characters for each of the installed fonts. Most often it is used to enter characters that are not on the keyboard. From it you can also get information about the character codes in the unicode table. There are quite a few ways to call this system application.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the main menu of the operating system by pressing the Win key or clicking the "Start" button with the mouse. Go to the "All Programs" section and select the "Standard" line. Then open the "Service" section in the menu, in which you will find the necessary link "Symbol table" - click it, and the application will be launched.
Step 2
In the main menu of the Windows 7 operating system, you can not search for this link yourself, but trust the built-in search engine. Press the Win key and immediately start entering the name of the desired OS component. You will only have time to type "tab" when the search engine displays the link "Symbol table" in the first line of results - click it with the mouse to launch the application.
Step 3
In any version of Windows OS, you can use the standard program launch dialog to call up the symbol table. In earlier versions of this system (for example, in Windows XP) a link to such a dialog is placed in the main menu - this is the "Run" command. In Windows 7, by default, this command is not displayed, but the dialog can be invoked, for example, by pressing a combination of the Win and R keys. In the startup dialog, type charmap and click the OK button. The symbol table will appear on the screen.
Step 4
You can independently do the work of the program launch dialog - find the charmap.exe executable file and double-click it. Do this using Windows Explorer. Open it, for example, using the Win + E keyboard shortcut. In the file manager, select the system drive, and in it - the directory where the OS is installed. In this directory, find the System32 folder. This is where the charmap.exe file is located - find it and run the symbol table. In Windows 7 with its advanced search engine, you can reduce the number of operations - just go to the system drive, and then enter the file name in the field at the upper right corner of the application window. The "Explorer" will find the desired object on its own, although it may take several tens of seconds.
