Page numbering allows you to better navigate the document. But in some cases, it is required to exclude page numbers on certain sheets, for example, on the title page. When editing text in Microsoft Office Word, you need to use the editor tools to do this.
Instructions
Step 1
First, put the page numbers in your document. To do this, go to the "Insert" tab and in the "Headers and Footers" block on the toolbar, click on the "Page number" thumbnail button. Select from the drop-down list the numbering option that suits your case.

Now you can exclude the numbering of the title page in several ways. When you switch to the mode of editing headers and footers, the context menu "Work with headers and footers" becomes available. On the Design tab, in the Options group, use a marker to mark the Custom First Page Header and Footer box.

Remove the page number from the header and footer on the first sheet with the Backspace or Delete key and double-click the left mouse button in the document workspace to return to normal text entry mode. The page numbering on all sheets, except for the cover sheet, will be retained.

If for some reason the described course of action does not suit you, you can do otherwise. Number the pages of your document and go to the Page Layout tab. In the lower right corner of the "Page settings" block, click the button with the arrow. A new dialog box will open.
Step 5
Make the "Paper Source" tab active in it. In the "Distinguish Headers and Footers" group, set the marker opposite the "First Page" field. Click the OK button, the window will close automatically, the selected parameters will take effect. If you remove the marker from this field in the future, the number on the title page will be displayed again.
Step 6
Another option is to use a ready-made cover page template. Open the "Insert" tab and in the "Pages" block click on the "Title Page" thumbnail button. From the drop-down list, select the layout that suits you by clicking on it with the left mouse button. Edit the template. When using a predefined template, the number does not appear on the title page.
