When preparing documents, the question often arises of how to remove the page number from the title page in MS Word. For this, the program has special options for numbering sheets, which are available through the corresponding item in the main menu.

Instructions

Step 1

To remove the page number from the title page, first click on the "Insert" tab located on the left side of the top menu of the program. Click on the Page Number icon in the area called Headers and Footers. Some users try to delete extra numbers through the "Header" or "Footer" items, but in this case the numbering disappears on all pages at once.

Step 2

In the submenu that opens, specify where you want to put the page numbers, even if they are already in the document, for example, at the top, bottom or in the margins of the sheets. After that, the cursor will be moved to the header of one of the numbered pages. Pay attention to the changed top menu.

Step 3

In the "Options" area, check the "Special number on the first page" box. It is this option that will help you remove the page number from the title page, but at the same time all the remaining numbering, starting from the second page, will remain intact.

Step 4

There are other ways to remove extra digits. For example, try simply double-clicking the number on the first page. This will automatically open a menu where you can activate the "Special Number" as described earlier. In addition, there is another interesting way that allows you to remove not only the number on the first page, but also any object in the text, for example, unnecessary inscriptions or images.

Step 5

Select the menu item "Insert" and in it - "Shapes". From the list provided, select a shape that fits the shape, for example, a rectangle, and place it where you want on the page. In the object properties, select white for the outline and the entire fill. Now the page number or any other object will be hidden behind the white shape and will not appear when the sheet is printed.

Step 6

In older versions of MS Word (before 2007), removing the number from the title page is a little different. Go to the "File" tab of the main menu and select the "Page Setup" item. After that, open the tab called "Paper Source". Scroll down to "Distinguish Headers and Footers" and check the box next to the "First Page" line. After that, the number from the first page will be deleted, but the numbering will continue from the number "2" on the second page.
