For the most convenient presentation of tabular data, Microsoft Office Excel provides options that allow you to hide rows or columns both individually and in groups. If later it becomes necessary to edit hidden data blocks, then the appropriate commands are used to make them visible again. Since there are several ways to hide rows and columns, there is also more than one sequence of actions for displaying them.
Instructions
Step 1
If the row (or range of rows) you want to make visible is not at the very beginning of the table, select the row preceding the invisible one (click its heading), then press and hold the Shift key and select the row following the invisible one. In this way, you will select a range of rows, which includes invisible cells as well. If we are talking about hidden columns, and not rows, then you need to select them in the same way, but you need to click on the column headings.
Step 2
Click the Format button located in the Cells command group on the Home tab. In the "Hide or Show" section of the drop-down menu, select "Show Rows". If you want to make the columns visible, then select the "Show Columns" item.
Step 3
There is also an easier way: just right-click the selected range of rows or columns and select the "Show" item in the pop-up context menu.
Step 4
If you need to make the very first row or column visible, then it will be a little more difficult to select it. To do this, you can, for example, manually enter the address of the first cell (A1) in the "Name" field located above the table to the left of the formula bar, and then press the Enter key. After that, you need to act in exactly the same way as described in the second step.
Step 5
Sometimes rows or columns are invisible not as a result of using the corresponding command, but because they are set too small for their width (for columns) or height (for columns). In this case, after selecting the range using one of the described methods, right-click the selected group and select "Row Height" to display hidden rows, or "Column Width" to display columns. In the window that appears, specify the required parameter value and click the "OK" button.
