Automatic installation of updates to the Microsoft Windows operating system can greatly simplify the security of your computer. Enabling the automatic update mode is a standard OS operation and can be performed without the need for additional software.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the system by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Run" item to initiate the procedure for enabling the automatic update function of the Windows operating system.
Step 2
Enter gpedit.msc in the Open field and click OK to confirm the launch of the Group Policy Editor tool.
Step 3
Open the "Computer configuration" link and open the context menu of the "Administrative Templates" component by right-clicking.
Step 4
Specify the item "Add and remove templates" and click the "Add" button.
Step 5
Specify the Wuau.adm file located in the Windows / Inf folder in the list that opens and use the "Open" button.
Step 6
Exit the editor by clicking the Close button and return to the Computer Configuration menu.
Step 7
Expand the Administrative Templates link and navigate to Windows Components.

Select the node "Windows Update" and expand the item "Configure Automatic Updates" by double-clicking.
Step 9
Go to the "Option" tab of the dialog box that opens and apply the checkbox to the "Enabled" field.
Step 10
Select Notify me before downloading updates and notify me again before installing them to display messages about existing updates, or select Automatically download and notify me before installing for the service to run in the background.
Step 11
Use the item "Download automatically and install according to a specified schedule" to further automate the operation of the service, or opt out of automatic installation of updates by selecting the "Disabled" or "Not configured" option.
Step 12
Return to the main "Start" menu and go to the "All Programs" item to perform the operation of enabling automatic system updates using an alternative method.
Step 13
Select "Windows Update" and select the "Change settings" group on the left side of the application window.
Step 14
Select the Include Recommended Updates on Download, Install, and Update Notifications check box in the Recommended Updates section and confirm the command by clicking OK.
