So, you decided to uninstall Windows Vista and install Windows XP on your computer. Before uninstalling, you need to download new drivers for the OS from the manufacturer's website. The system will not work stably without the necessary drivers.
Step 2
First of all, it is necessary, even required, to format the hard drive on which Windows Vista is installed. There are no special problems with this, since when installing another OS, you will be prompted to format the hard drive and partition it into logical drives. It is simply necessary to do this. If you decide to install, for example, Windows XP on top of Windows Vista, you will have serious problems in the future, which will cause you to waste even more time. Be sure to save all your documents to external media before formatting to avoid data loss.
Step 3
In the BIOS settings, set the boot of the external media from which you will install the new operating system. As a rule, it is either a CD / DVD disc or some kind of external hard drive or flash drive.
Step 4
When installing Windows XP, even if the installation went smoothly, fragments of the old Windows Vista operating system may remain in the boot sector. To remove them, boot from the disk that contains the Windows XP distribution kit. In the menu, find and select recovery mode (or press the R key). In the console that appears, enter the fixboot command. Now just restart your computer.
