Almost every computer owner needs to get information about the system from time to time - at least in order to understand whether it will be possible to install a new toy or a powerful graphics editor. You can find out the configuration of your computer in different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
You can get information about the hardware from the BIOS (Basic In-Out System) menu. After turning on the computer, wait until the message “Press Delete to SETUP” appears on the bottom line of the screen. Instead of Delete, there may be some other key: F10 or F2. Click it. Sequentially select the menu items - this way you will find out all the characteristics of the components of your computer. The Enable state means that the device is enabled and in use, Disable means it is disabled.
Step 2
After Windows boots up, right-click on the "My Computer" icon and select the "Properties" option. The General tab of the System Properties window provides information about the operating system, the owner of the computer, as well as the type of processor and the amount of RAM.
Step 3
On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager. A window appears with a list of devices installed on the computer. If there is a plus in the box to the left of the equipment name, then this is a drop-down list. Open it and double click on an item from the list. In the properties window go to the "Details" tab and expand the list with the list of device characteristics. The hexadecimal notation of the parameters appears in the window below the list.
Step 4
Third-party software such as Everest or SiSoft Sandra can be used to obtain system information. These programs not only determine the configuration of the equipment, but can also carry out its diagnostics. Their older versions are available for free download on the manufacturer's website. Launch SiSoft Sandra Utility. Double click the Summary icon if you want to get an overview of the system. A message will appear: “Information about your computer is being collected. Do not move your mouse or press on the keyboard. This process can take from 1 to 10 minutes , after which complete information about the state of the computer is displayed. If you need information about the operation of individual modules, select the corresponding icons.
