If you need to create a map or plan (for example, for advertising, to explain to buyers how to find you, etc.), then you do not need to be a professional surveyor. To create a simple and beautiful map, Adobe Illustrator is quite suitable. Even if you are not a master of this program, below you can find clear instructions on how to create a map that even a beginner can handle. So let's get started.

Adobe Illustrator program

Instructions

Step 1

Download or purchase Adobe Illustrator if you don't already have it. Install it on your computer.

Step 2

Open the program, create a new web document, and click OK.

Step 3

Now you need a map that you will use as a reference. To do this, in the Google Maps program, find the part of the map you need and take a screenshot of it (using the Print Screen key). Save the screenshot to a folder convenient for you.

Step 4

Now come up with a legend for your map. Choose colors for the desired building, adjacent buildings, roads, etc.

Step 5

Now we will draw the roads. To do this, select the Line Segment Tool, use it to draw segments of the desired color, to which you can add strokes of different thickness and different colors. Select the road sign and open the Brush window. Click the "Options" button (the button with three lines at the top), select "New Brush". In the dialog box, select New Art Brush, then click OK. In the window that appears, enter a name for the brush. Do the same for each type of road if you have more than one.

Step 6

Now open the screenshot file with Illustrator. Lock the layer with this map using the commands "Object" - "Lock" - "Selected". Select the road brush and start using it to trace the roads in the screenshot.

Step 7

Now let's move on to the buildings. Select the Pen tool and draw the outline of the building with it. With the Pen Tool draw some shapes and place them in the background. Draw the buildings according to the legend you came up with above. It is better to let the colors be bright, but not too bright, and most importantly, that they are understandable. That is, you should not mark the lawn with purple.

Step 8

Add 3D effects to your map to make the map look more interesting, add small details. But don't do too many small details - this will only create a cluttered effect. Your map should be clean and clear.
