Step 1
Check for the correct input on the sound card on your computer. To do this, unfold the system unit with the back panel towards you. If you have a laptop, then the right socket should be found on the side or front panel. Built-in sound cards usually have only three slots. These are speaker outputs, line and microphone inputs. Look for a red jack or one with a microphone painted next to it. Next, insert the plug of your microphone into the corresponding input on your sound card. Step 2
Activate the microphone function in the system settings. To turn on the microphone in whist, go to the control panel and double-click on the "Audio and Video" icon. Next, uncheck the Mute Microphone box. Then adjust the microphone volume to the desired level. It needs to be adjusted differently depending on the quality of the microphone. If you purchased the cheapest handset microphone, turn up the volume to the maximum.

Check if the microphone is working on another computer in case it does not work. Sometimes the microphone input, which is located on the front panel of the system unit, may not work. Therefore, if this is what you used, switch the microphone directly to the input on the sound card. If the microphone is fully functional, then the problem is most likely in the sound card. Reinstall its drivers.
Step 4
Go to the "Audio and Video" panel and click on the "Device Management" item. If your computer is connected to the Internet, select your sound card from the list of devices and click on the "Update drivers" button. The operating system will independently find drivers on the Internet and install them on your computer. Then try turning on the microphone again.
