Devices connected to a computer do not always work as desired. Some faults are repaired in the usual way, and some require hardware replacement to fix.
Instructions
Step 1
Open your sound card settings. If you have it built into the motherboard, go to the computer control panel and select the audio devices menu. Click on the Realtek setting (Realtek HD in some cases), find the microphone sound settings tab and uncheck the sound delay effect. Also open the mixer setting and mute the Mic Volume. Apply the changes and close all windows by clicking the OK button.
Step 2
If microphone audio lag occurs when using only one specific application, open its audio settings and adjust the delay settings. It is best to disable additional microphone effects as they can affect the responsiveness of your audio device. If you've accidentally changed a setting and now don't know how to turn it off, look for Reset Sound. Apply and save your changes.
Step 3
To troubleshoot a microphone issue, make sure that the drivers for your sound card are installed correctly. It is best to download the latest version of them from the official website of the developer, delete the old ones along with the system folders in the appropriate directory and install the new ones. Restart your computer and configure the microphone in the appropriate section of the control panel or in the programs that will use this device.
Step 4
If your computer has an external sound card, look for a custom configuration setting that can help you remove lag from the microphone and tune your sound devices properly. These instructions are usually included with the disc and can also be found on the Internet. Please note that you definitely need to know the model of your sound card.
