Step 1

After connecting, you need to install the device driver. Most manufacturers supply their play kits with CDs with all the software you need to make your steering wheel and pedals work properly. Although the steering wheel and pedals can be detected by Windows even without the original drivers (like a USB gaming device), only the presence of "native" drivers guarantees full compatibility and functionality of the gaming system.
Step 3
Calibrate the steering wheel and pedals. Calibration is an empirical fine-tuning of your input system. The fact is that all computers have different characteristics (power, sensitivity, processor clock frequency), versions of operating systems, and it is possible to select the values of the steering wheel rotation, pressing power, and response speed only empirically. Even test pilots of Formula 1 on racing cars do similar operations! To calibrate, open Control Panel, select Devices, then Gaming Devices.
Step 4
Open "USB Device Steering Wheel [manufacturer]". You can change the sensitivity by turning the steering wheel, pressing the pedals and selecting the desired parameters. You have to move the slider to change the sensitivity and reaction speed. In the future, return to this settings panel to select the desired values for each auto simulator.
Step 5
Download and install a lightweight racing emulator. It is advisable to use a game with simple controls to master and adjust the steering wheel and pedals - this way you will be able to find the ideal settings and learn how to ride in the process. If you immediately start trying your hand at a difficult race, you may be content with little or lose faith in yourself. Any game from the Ford Racing, FlatOut series can be an optimal emulator for a start. Test Races in Need For Speed: World are also great for testing your steering wheel and pedal settings. Play the race, check out the quality of the setting. Re-calibrate if inconvenient.
