A monitor with built-in speakers has low sound quality, but it saves space on the table and frees up one outlet in the extension cord. The audio signal to such a monitor is supplied through a separate cable.

Instructions

Step 1

See if there is a second cable that connects the monitor audio input to the computer sound card output. If it is there, but there is still no sound, first try to find the button on the front of the monitor with the designation of the crossed out speaker. Click on it, after which either the LED above it will go out, or the speaker designation will also appear on the screen, but not crossed out. This means that the sound is now turned on. Pressing the button again will turn on the diode or display the symbol with a crossed out speaker - the sound is muted. Some monitors do not have a separate button to change the speaker mode - this function can be turned on and off via the menu.

Step 2

If you wake up your monitor from mute mode and still can't hear anything, look for a volume control. Even on monitors, where all adjustments are made electronically, such a regulator can be analog. Turn the knob and the sound should appear. If the knob is missing, look on the front panel for the arrow buttons between which the speaker designation is located, or try to find the item for adjusting the volume in the monitor menu.

Step 3

Incorrect setting of the operating system mixer cannot be ruled out - but then there will be no sound even if ordinary speakers are connected to the sound card. Run the appropriate program (its name depends on which OS you are using) and check if the audio output is disabled.

Step 4

Even if there is a cable, it is not a fact that it is correctly connected. Check if it is connected with one plug to the green jack of the sound card and the other to the monitor jack marked as Audio in. Reposition it in the appropriate slots if necessary. In addition, the cord may be defective. To find out if this is the case, disconnect it from both the computer and the monitor, and ring an ohmmeter.

Step 5

If you do not have a cable, look in the package box for your monitor. If it is not found there, make it yourself. Take two 3.5mm stereo jack plugs (TRS). Connect their like-named contacts with a three-wire cord.
