Mac-address is a kind of identifier that is assigned to network equipment. It is needed to configure the network and connect to the Internet. But sometimes it becomes necessary to change the mac-address, for example, if it simply gets lost. And to return to normal network operation, it must be re-registered.

Step 1
Owners of Windows 7 operating systems can register a poppy address in this way. Click Start. Go to the "Control Panel". Select the "By Category" view. Then click on the "Network and Internet" component. Then select "Network and Sharing Center". On the left side of the window, click the "Change adapter settings" option.
Step 2
A window with a Local Area Connection icon should appear. Click on this icon with the right mouse button. A context menu will appear. From this menu, select Properties. A window will pop up. The top-most section of this window is called Connect Via. At the bottom of the section there is a line with the name of your network card. When you hover over it, you will see the mac-address of the network card.

There is a button "Configure" next to it. Click this button. In the next window go to the "Advanced" tab. Next, find the "Property" section. In this section there is a line "Network address". Select it with the left mouse button. On the right is the "Value" line. Enter the required mac-address in this line and click OK. Now the poppy address is registered.

In the case of the Windows XP operating system, this can be done as follows. The general principle differs little from the case with Windows 7. From the Control Panel, select "Network Connections". The Local Area Connection icon appears. Right-click the icon and select Properties from the context menu.
Step 5
Then go to the "General" tab. A window will pop up. The topmost line in it is your network card model. Click on the "Configure" button next to it. After that, go to the "Advanced" tab. In the next window, find the line "Network address". Select this line with the left mouse button. On the right there will be a string value. Enter the mac-address there. Then click OK. Now the poppy address is registered. You can close other windows.
