Instructions
Step 1
Launch Adobe Illustrator and open the picture you want to crop. To do this, click the File> Open menu item (or the shortcut keys Ctrl + O), select the image and click Open.
Step 2
Select the Rectangle Tool (hotkey M). On the toolbar, set the Stroke to 1 and the color of the rectangle to None. Use this tool to create a frame, which, according to your idea, will crop the existing picture.
Step 3
Open the layers panel (Window> Layers menu item or F7 hot key), hold down Ctrl and left-click on the circle that is to the right of each of the layers (with the original image and the rectangle created in the previous step of the instruction). Another circle will appear around the circle - this means that the layer is selected.
Step 4
Crop the picture by calling the Clipping Mask command. This can be done in two ways. First, click the Object> Clipping Mask> Make menu item. Second - press the hotkeys Ctrl + 7.
Step 5
In addition, you can use other tools to crop the picture. What's more, you can do it more neatly, which gives you a lot of creativity. For example, if you follow the instructions above, but instead of the Rectangle Tool use the Type Tool (hot key T), then instead of just a rectangle, you can create an inscription with a fragment of the picture instead of a color. Likewise with the Pen Tool (P), Ellipse Tool (L), Paintbrush Tool (B), etc.
Step 6
To save the result, click the File> Save as menu item (or the shortcut keys Ctrl + S), select the path for the future file, specify the name and format and click "Save".
