On the additional computer keyboard, keys with numbers and symbols of mathematical operations are duplicated, therefore it is often called a numeric keypad. This block of keys can be enabled or disabled by the user at his own discretion. Usually, this operation is carried out by simply pressing one or two keys, but in some cases you can use the BIOS setup panel.

Step 1
If you are using a standard keyboard with your computer, where the option unit is located separately from the main unit, use one of the keys on the option keyboard to disable it. It is denoted by the inscription Num Lock and is located in the first place in the first line of the set of additional keys. Most laptop keyboards also have this key, but to save space, it may not be placed in its standard place - in any case, look for it in the upper right corner of the keyboard.
Step 2
On keyboards of netbooks and small notebooks in which the secondary keyboard is combined with the main keyboard, use the key combination to disable it. One of the combination buttons must be Fn and the other one of the function keys. Its computer manufacturers choose at their discretion. Most often, this is the F11 button, but if this combination does not work on your laptop, specify the desired combination in its description.
Step 3
The basic input / output system - BIOS - also has a control for disabling the additional keyboard in its settings. If you set it to off, the numeric keypad will be deactivated every time you turn on the computer. To do this, first open the main OS menu and select the restart command. When the hardware check messages pass on the screen and you are prompted to press Delete or another button to enter the BIOS setup panel, do it.
Step 4
Find the setting that is responsible for disabling the optional keyboard. Its exact name and location depends on the BIOS version used in the computer. For example, it can be located in the Advanced BIOS Features section and called Boot Up Num-Lock - go to this section line and use the PageUp and PageDown keys to set the value to Off. Then exit the settings panel and save your changes.
