Step 1
First, try running System Restore. To do this, you need either an installation disc (for Windows Vista or 7) or one of the many Live CDs (for Windows XP). Insert the selected disc into the drive. Turn on your computer.
Step 2
If you are using the Windows Vista (Seven) installation disc, then start the process of installing the new OS. Go to the "Advanced recovery options" menu and select one of the items that suit you. You can use automatic recovery of boot files or a full return of the system to the state in which it was at the time of creating the archived image.
Step 3
If you have Windows XP installed on your computer, then use the Live CD view, which allows you to run Windows without having a working OS on your computer. Select "Boot Windows from Disk".
Step 4
Wait while the program prepares and downloads the files. This can take quite a long time, because the speed of reading from a CD is much lower than the speed of a hard drive. Now perform the required operations while operating in a running operating system environment. Be careful, because starting the system from the disk allows you to carry out any operations with the files of the installed Windows XP operating system.
Step 5
Remove virus files that prevent the operating system from starting. If necessary, change the parameters of the boot files. To successfully restore the operating state of the system, it is better to use a ready-made archive or disk containing installation files of a similar version of Windows.
Step 6
If you need to prepare your hard drive for installing a new operating system, you will need a portable version of Partition Manager. Run it from a USB drive and configure the hard disk partitions. Remember that working in an OS environment running from a disk, you will not be able to install additional programs on this disk.
