In order for the TV tuner card to start receiving TV programs, it is not enough just to install it in the computer and connect the antenna. It is also necessary to take care of the software part by installing a special application for controlling the receiving device.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are using a Linux operating system, you may already have everything you need to work with the tuner. Enter the xawtv command at the command line. If the tuner is detected by the system, and the Xawtv program itself is there, soon a small window will appear on the screen, and in it there will be a picture similar to that observed on the screen of an unconfigured TV.
Step 2
To tune the Xawtv program to a particular TV channel, use the vertical arrow keys. adjust within the selected channel using the horizontal arrow keys. Using the right mouse button, you can display the context menu for changing the program settings. First of all, you need to select a television standard (for Russia - D / K) and a color coding system (for most channels in Russia - SECAM). If the setting is incorrect, there will be no sound or color. Please note that some tuners do not support the SECAM system - then you will have to watch all TV channels without color.

Step 4
In Windows, it is most rational to use the software package included with the TV tuner to work with the TV tuner. To do this, find the CD in the packing box and run the installation file located on it. You can also go to the tuner manufacturer's website and download the program from it. The order of work with the application depends on its version.
Step 5
If you purchase a used tuner, or if the disc with the program is lost, and the manufacturer's website is closed, you can start the board in Windows using the Kastor TV program. Page = download & langue = eng After launching it, select the tuner model, TV standard and color coding system through the Setup - Preferences menu. Carry out auto-tuning of channels using the menu item Channels - Channels list. In the future, you can switch tuned channels using the plus and minus keys.
