To create a high-quality local area network in which several computers will simultaneously access the Internet, it is recommended to use a router. To connect laptops to this network, select a Wi-Fi-enabled router.
It is necessary
- - Wi-Fi router;
- - network cables.
Instructions
Step 1
First, get a Wi-Fi router (router). Pay attention to the type of connector to which the provider's cable will be connected. If you are using DSL Internet, the router must have a port with the same name. Otherwise, purchase a Wi-Fi router with a WAN or Internet link.
Step 2
Connect the purchased equipment to AC power and turn it on. Connect the ISP cable to the Internet (WAN, DSL) port. Connect a network cable to the Ethernet (LAN) connector. Connect the other end to the network adapter of a laptop or computer.
Step 3
Turn on this computer. Launch an internet browser and enter the router's IP address in the address bar. If you do not know the original IP address of the device, find it in the instructions for it. After pressing the Enter key on the browser page, the router's Wi-Fi web interface will open.
Step 4
Open WAN (Internet setup). Configure the parameters of this menu, taking into account the wishes of your provider. Be sure to enter the correct username and password in order to successfully pass authorization on the server.
Step 5
Save the settings from the previous menu and go to Wi-Fi (wireless setup). Specify the parameters for the items on this menu that are suitable for working with wireless adapters in notebook computers. When choosing a security type, it is recommended to specify WPA (2) -PSK, not WEP. Save the settings for this menu. Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
Step 6
Connect desktop computers to the LAN (Ethernet) connectors of the router. Connect laptops and communicators to the appeared wireless access point.
Step 7
Open the device web interface and go to the "Status" menu. Make sure that the authorization on the provider's server was successful. Check the availability of the Internet on computers connected to the Wi-Fi router.
