Step 1
A cable connection between two computers will provide high speed data transfer between them (up to 100 Mbps). Purchase a crossover patch cord of the correct length with RJ-45 connectors at both ends. Connect the indicated connectors to the network cards of the computers. Turn on both PCs and wait for the boot.
Step 2
After a while, a new network will be automatically detected. Open the Network and Sharing Center on any computer and go to the list of active connections. Open the TCP / IP properties of the desired network card. Activate the item "Use the following IP address". In the first field of this menu, enter the IP address value for this network adapter, for example 192.168.0.1. Similarly, set a static IP address for another computer, changing the last digit of the address to 2. Wait for the network settings to update.
Step 3
Customize your sharing options to quickly share the information you want. Open advanced sharing options. This menu can be accessed through the network control center. Expand the menu of the profile you are using and check the box next to Enable network discovery. This is a key configuration step because it provides the ability to connect to a remote computer.
Step 4
If you need to connect and configure a printer or MFP, then activate the "Enable file and printer sharing" item. In the next submenu, check the box next to "Enable sharing so network users can read and write files." If this option is disabled, you will not be able to use the network resources of this computer.
Step 5
Click the "Save Changes" button. Configure the required access settings for the other PC. Remember that if one of the computers is connected to the Internet, then it is wiser to use one-way communication.
