Communication between computers is established using network cards. For any device to work correctly, you need a driver for it - a small utility with which the operating system controls computer equipment.
Instructions
Step 1
Each device model needs its own driver. As a rule, a CD or DVD with this utility and instructions for installing it is included with the AC adapter. To install the driver, insert the disc into your optical drive, go to Control Panel, open the System node and click Device Manager in the Hardware tab.
Step 2
Devices for which the driver is not installed are marked with yellow question marks and exclamation marks. In this case, it will be the Ethernet controller. Call the context menu by right-clicking on the controller icon and check the "Update driver" item.
Step 3
The update wizard will ask for permission to connect to Windows Update to find the driver. Since the network adapter is not working, this request makes no sense. Check "No, not this time" and click "Next" to continue the process.
Step 4
In the next window, move the radio button to the "Install from a list or specific location" position and continue the update by clicking "Next". On the new screen, Search Removable Media is checked by default, so just click Next again. The driver will be installed automatically. When a message appears stating that the process has completed successfully, click "Ready".
Step 5
If you do not have a media with a driver written on it, you will have to look for suitable "firewood" yourself. During manufacturing, each piece of equipment is assigned an identification code - ID. It contains information in hexadecimal form about the manufacturer and the type of device.
Step 6
Right-click on the controller icon, check the Properties command and open the Details tab. In the drop-down list, select the item "Codes (ID) equipment". Rewrite the bottom entry.
Step 7
Go to devid.info.ru from another computer and enter the code of your network card in the search box. Click Search. The system will display a list of drivers suitable for your network adapter. Click on the floppy disk image to download the utility. Save the file to a USB flash drive.
Step 8
Install the driver as described above. In the third screen of the Update Wizard, specify a USB flash drive or a folder on your hard drive as a source if you have copied the utility to a hard drive.
