Copy and paste procedures are very often used when working with images in the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop. These are fairly simple operations, when applied, more time is spent not on the operations themselves, but on the preparatory procedures - this mainly refers to the selection of the copy area on the original layer of the picture.

Instructions

Step 1

Start a graphics editor and load the image you want to work with. If it's stored in a Photoshop native format (psd) file, double-click it to do both. Otherwise, after launching the application, simply drag the file into the program window.

Step 2

In psd files, parts of an image can be stored in multiple layers. If you need to copy only the contents of one of them, click on the corresponding line in the layers panel.

Step 3

Select the copy area in the picture. To fit the whole picture into it, just press the key combination Ctrl + A, and in other cases, you need to turn on one of the selection tools. There are three buttons for them on the toolbar, each of which has several options for the tool attached. Switching the active option is carried out using the drop-down list, for which you need to click the corresponding icon with the right mouse button and hold it for a few seconds.

Step 4

To select a rectangular or oval area of the image, click on the second icon in the toolbar or press the button with the Latin letter M. bottom right corner.

Step 5

Three tools, invoked by the next button on the toolbar (or by pressing the L key), allow you to select free-form areas. Use them in the same way as with the previous tool.

Step 6

The fourth button (the W key) has two tools that allow you to select areas in the image with a similar color, brightness and other parameters. For such a selection, one click on a point in the picture is enough, which should serve as a model for determining the similarity.

Step 7

After specifying the copy area, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C, and the selected area of the active layer will be placed on the clipboard. If you want to copy the merged image of all layers, use Shift + Ctrl + C or the Copy Merged Data item in the Edit section of the Photoshop menu.

Step 8

Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V or the Paste command from the same Editing section to place the contents of the clipboard into the document being edited.
