Instructions

Step 1

Click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen or on the Windows key (with a flag image) on your keyboard. Click in the menu with the left mouse button on the item "Control Panel". A new window will open, this is the "Control Panel". Typically, users do not have problems logging in, but you may encounter some difficulties.

Step 2

If you don't see the Start button, then the taskbar is hidden. To keep it from disappearing every time, move the cursor to the bottom edge of the screen and wait a couple of seconds. Right-click on the pop-up taskbar and select Properties from the context menu. A new Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box opens.

Step 3

Go to the "Taskbar" tab in it and remove the marker from the "Automatically hide the taskbar" item in the "Taskbar appearance" group. Click the "Apply" button and close the properties window with the OK button or the [x] icon.

Step 4

In the event that you cannot find the "Control Panel" item in the "Start" menu, you must proceed as follows. Call the properties window of the taskbar as described above. In the dialog box, go to the "Start Menu" tab and click on the "Customize" button opposite the "Start Menu" item. An additional window will open.

Step 5

In the new dialog box, make the "Advanced" tab active. Use the "slider" to move through the list in the "Items in the Start Menu" group until you find the "Control Panel" branch.

Step 6

In the found branch, mark one of the items with a marker: "Display as a menu" or "Display as a link" (depending on how it will be more convenient for you to call this element). Click the OK button in the Start menu customization window, the Apply button in the taskbar properties window and close the window. The Control Panel item should appear in the Start menu.
