Instructions

Step 1

If we are talking about connecting two modems, then usually in this situation, devices that support the function of distributing a Wi-Fi signal are used. They do this in order to expand the coverage area of the wireless access point. The method is very effective because it allows you to connect a large number of computers or laptops to the same internet connection line.

Step 2

Consider a situation in which you have a DSL Wi-Fi modem and its analogue with a LAN port for connecting to the Internet. Naturally, connect the first device through the splitter to the telephone line. Connect any computer or laptop to the LAN (Ethernet) port.

Step 3

Open the hardware settings menu by entering its IP into the address bar of the browser. Configure the connection to the provider's server and make sure it is working properly.

Step 4

Open the Wireless Setup Settings menu. Create a wireless access point with the parameters that suit the needs of your laptops. Note: This clause refers to the types of security supported by wireless adapters in computers or laptops. Save your changes.

Step 5

Using a regular network cable, connect the Ethernet (LAN) port of the first modem to the WAN (Internet) connector of the second. Go to the LAN settings of the second equipment.

Step 6

Specify the WAN port as the main channel for connecting to the Internet. Create a wireless network that has the same characteristics as the access point of the first modem. Naturally, provide a different name for the network. Save the settings and reboot both modems.

Step 7

Now you can connect your laptop to any of the created wireless access points, and computers to any modem via the Ethernet (LAN) port. All devices in this situation will have access to the Internet.
