BIOS is an acronym that brings a displeased smile on the face of many, especially novice users. However, this is the main system for managing the hardware resources of a computer, and without it it is sometimes impossible to start, for example, a USB device. Calling the BIOS on a desktop computer and on a laptop is no different.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are in an operating system environment, you will only be able to exit to the BIOS if you restart the laptop. You can do this through the "Start" menu or through the restart key, if there is one (in most cases, you need to hold down the shutdown key so that the laptop turns off, and does not go into hibernation, then turn it on again).
Step 2
You can enter BIOS settings before loading the operating system. At the bottom there will be a prompt message Press F1 to enter setup. Instead of F1, there can be any other key or combination, such as Ctrl + Alt + Ins. For reliability, you can press several times. If, nevertheless, you did not have time, and the operating system started, you need to restart the laptop again.
Step 3
If you do everything correctly, a blue BIOS settings window will open. Here you can customize the boot order from the media, change the settings of the video, sound, network card, USB settings. You can also disable or enable specific devices by changing the value from Disabled to Enabled. You can increase the performance of your computer, but it is recommended for professionals to do this, as incorrect settings can lead to the fact that the computer will stop booting, and you will have to knock down all BIOS settings.
Step 4
If you are reinstalling Windows, remember to start the installation from the DVD- or CD-Rom media, after the first reboot, configure it to start from the hard disk again. To save your changes, press F10 or Save & exit setup (Save and exit setup / Save CMOS & exit setup). A window will appear - confirming that you want to save the settings. Press Y if you agree to save, if not - N.
