The information stored on a computer's hard drive is important to many users. After a problem with the hard drive, it is possible to recover the lost files.
Necessary
- - Mount'n'Drive;
- - Test Disk.
Instructions
Step 1
It is important to understand that physical damage to the hard drive can lead to the complete loss of important information. Be careful when handling your hard drive. Pay particular attention to the recommendations for transporting this device.
Step 2
If the hard drive fails, try connecting this device as a secondary hard drive. Install the operating system on a new drive or connect the damaged hard drive to another computer.
Step 3
To carry out this process, use the computer motherboard cables or a SATA-ISB (IDE-USB) adapter. Turn on your computer. After loading the operating system, wait until the new drive is ready for use.
Step 4
Download the Mount'n'Drive app. This program allows you to access partitions with a corrupted table. This error often occurs when creating new local disks.
Step 5
Install the specified application. Open the main window of Mount'n'Drive and wait for the list of available ones to be created. With the left mouse button, select the hard drive or a specific section of it that you cannot open.
Step 6
Open the Mount tab and select Mount Disk. In the new menu, specify a new volume letter. After a while, the system will detect the mounted local disk.
Step 7
Copy all the necessary files from this section. Please note that the speed of information transfer can be significantly slower than usual.
Step 8
Access the rest of the hard disk partitions in the same way. If you want to recover the volume table, use the Test Disk program.
Step 9
This application is designed to restore the disk structure from a backup. Please note that misconfiguration of the drive may result in you losing access to the rest of your local drives. It is highly recommended that you save important files to a separate storage device before using Test Disk.
