Necessary

  • Unlocker program,
  • clip.

Instructions

Step 1

The drive cage is usually located on one of the sides of the laptop. Examine the sides carefully. You should find a thin rectangular bar labeled DVD. There is an oblong button on it, with which you can open the laptop's floppy drive.

Step 2

If pressing the button did not bring the desired result, it is possible that at this moment the operating system of the laptop is executing an application that was launched from the disk. In this case, you will need to disable the process that blocks the opening of the drive. Bring up the task manager by pressing the Ctrl, alt="Image" and Del buttons at the same time. View the list of running applications in the open Applications tab. If among them there is a program launched from the disk, select it and click the "End task" button.

Step 3

The process blocking the drive may be a virus. To unlock, you need to install the Unlocker program. This application adds an item of the same name to the context menu. Selecting the desired drive in the "My Computer" folder and clicking on this menu item, you will be taken to the main menu of the program. It displays locked files. Unlock them by clicking the Unlock All button and then try opening the drive in the normal way.

Step 4

If the previous steps did not help, or the laptop is performing these operations too slowly, turn off the laptop. Then turn it on and immediately, without waiting for the operating system to load, try to open the carriage using the button on the drive panel.

Step 5

You can use the software to eject the drive tray. Open the "My Computer" folder by clicking on the corresponding icon on the desktop. Select the drive you are interested in. It may be called "DVD-RW drive" or "DVD-RAM drive". Call the context menu with the right mouse button and click on the "Extract" item.

Step 6

You can open the laptop drive mechanically. To do this, you need a paperclip or toothpick. Insert your chosen item into the small hole on the outside of the drive. Push it all the way in until you hear a click. The drive tray will then pop out slightly so you can pull it out all the way.
