Instructions

Step 1

Call the context menu by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon and select the "Manage" option. Click on "Device Manager". Unidentified devices are listed in the Other Devices group and are marked with a yellow question mark.

Step 2

You can enter the "Device Manager" in other ways: - in the context menu, select "Properties", go to the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Manager"; - in the "Control Panel" open the node "Administrative Tools", then "Computer Management".

Step 3

Right click on the icon of the unrecognized device and check "Properties" in the drop-down menu. In the "Details" tab, select "Equipment IDs" from the drop-down list. ID is a unique number assigned to the device by the manufacturer and is used to identify the equipment.

Step 4

For example, the code looks like this: PVIVEN_14E4 & DEV_4401 & CC_0200Manufacturer information is encrypted in characters after the letters VEN (VENDOR - "Manufacturer"), information about the device - after the letters DEV (DEVICE - "Device").

Step 5

Go to PCIDatabase.com and enter the vendor code in the “search vendors” field (in this example, 14E4). The program will identify the manufacturer: Broadcom. In the “search device” field, enter the device code, in this example 4401. The search will return the device information: Ehternet Controller.

Step 6

You can identify unidentified equipment using the Unknown Device Identifier 8.0 program. It provides a detailed report on unknown devices: manufacturer, type, model and device name.

Step 7

On the DevID website, you can find a driver for an unknown device. To do this, enter the ID code in the appropriate field and click "Search". In the new window, click on the floppy disk icon to download the driver for the device.
